Day 162. CSS weekend

Okay, so my JS course test was fine, and I had an interview and it went okay too - I got accepted to the training. We had an intro meeting where they told us a super high %, like 80%, of those who finish it get employed at their company (and I think like 2/3 do finish the theoretical part and move on to the internship - but mostly people just leave because of personal reasons not because they can't hack it - the program seems basic enough anyway. Most of the stuff I've gone through with TOP, but it just didn't stick well enough (intricacies of "this", the event loop... there were two technical tests, the second one was optional and had questions about this stuff, yeah, my answers were just guesses mostly, so these are definitely gaps for me I need to get a deeper understanding of -- I already rewatched the TOP's recommended event loop video - got more out of it now on second rewatch! I think I'm getting it! and I'll work on "this" soon with reading YDKJS and go over TOP stuff again).

Granted, the pay seems to be pretty low compared to the market for junior specialists (but I'm unsure, it looks like depending on how you do there will be a discussions, they did say whatever they mentioned was "minimum" but didn't say anything about the top of the "fork" when asked). In any case, I'll continue with TOP, and once I'm done with Node, will apply to a few Junior JS dev positions. I watched a couple junior/middle front end developer interviews, and the stuff they are asked about is nothing too complicated.

Currently I'm going through the third part of Scrimba React course - I'm really enjoying it too! Finished the simple Business Card (oops, just noticed I should fix that margin a bit) and Experiences projects, and currently finishing up Meme Generator. Since next week should be super light on work, I'm hoping to finish it and get to working on the fourth part.

Also this weekend is a CSS weekend! Since that company course I started started out with HTML/CSS, I got to working on TOP's HTML/CSS section in parallel and have almost finished the Flexbox and Grid parts (which I have been meaning to work on for months! I really was struggling with it, even though I used it somewhat in projects before). Wes Bos courses they direct you to have been pretty helpful. So I'm planning to work on that today and tomorrow.

I also mentioned reading YDKJS last month - I did get through two books, but now starting to reread them again - the 2nd edition, possibly discussing with people from the course, to keep it going. So my plans for December and January! Let's see if I can do it. 1) Work on HTML/CSS curriculum on TOP (hopefully finish it? if I have time...) 2) Finish React Scrimba and work further on TOP's React projects 3) Read YDKJS and get a good understanding of event loop, this, prototypes, all this stuff. 4) Work and my resume and apply to a few positions to get some interview practice in
